ST. PETERSBURG, JULY 14 — is excited to announce the judges in its first-ever Top Local Chef competition, which takes place July 30 in Clearwater.

"We have the best local food writers choosing from among the best local chefs. This won't be an easy decision," says Ester Venouziou, founder of, which is sponsoring the event along with 
Intensity Academy Sauces, DeZiner Eventz and Canvas Zoo.

Meet the judges:

Elizabeth Dougherty, talk show host of Food Nation Radio Network and founder of Eat St. Pete!

Billie Jo Grassinger, Tampa Bay foodie and author of a blog, Tampa Bay Afternoon Delight.

Sandra McKenna, co-host/producer of the MidLife Road Trip, a show about travel, food, wine, adventure and the funny side of life.

Noah Pransky, video-journalist with WTSP-10News. He is also a competitive triathlete and a competitive eater.

Jim Webster, food writer for the St. Petersburg Times. He also has his own blog,

The contestants
Each chef is bringing a never-before-served specialty created with the limited-edition LocalShops1 Girl sauce (developed by Intensity Academy).

Participating restaurants are:
Pia's Trattoria and T & Me Co. in Gulfport;  Twisted Cork and St Pete Bagel in St. Petersburg;  2 Square Pizzaistro and The Milk n' Honey Tea Room in Tampa; and The Grand Floridian in Orlando (chef lives in Hillsborough County).

In the amateur competition, the chefs are Andrew Hewitt, aka "Don Stugots," Lisa Fuentes, Holly Crabtree, Vicki Apple and Patti Oriot.

Admission is free with advance registration, $5 at the door. Guests are also asked to bring two canned items for the
Warren Backpack Program, which helps feed hungry children. All event proceeds will be donated to the program.
