ST PETERSBURG -- St. Petersburg College students are going on the road for the first-ever pop-up college class at the LocalShops1 shop in Gulfport.

Dr. Amy Sauers, associate professor at SPC, is leading the marketing class, which will take place 8 to 10:30 am Wednesday, April 19. The media and the public are invited to attend.

The pop-up class, which will focus on ideas to better market LocalShops1's Live Local mission, fits in perfectly with Dr. Sauers’ vision of entrepreneurship as a form of activism that empowers students and citizens to engage with their community “tribe” -- using practical feedback to respond relationally for sustainable success.

The pop-up class breaks from traditional format of Dr. Sauers' course, Principles of Marketing, which is typically offered online or in the classroom. The course covers retail and wholesale agencies, elements of marketing efficiency, the cost of marketing, price maintenance, unfair competition, and the relationship of government to marketing.

"We are looking forward to hosting Amy's class and hearing the students' ideas on how we can further grow the Live Local movement," said Ester Venouziou, founder of LocalShops1.

LocalShops1's shop is at 2908 Beach Blvd S, in Gulfport's Arts District.
