Chuck Egerter opened his business in 2003 and offers software, hardware, hosting, recruiting, advanced database services.  "I was tired of hearing myself say, 'If I were the boss, I’d …' it was time to put my money where my mouth was (or the voice in my head) and do it.," he says.

Here are excerpts from his application for LocalShops1's 2014 Best in Biz Awards:

"While focusing on our customer’s data-related needs is a key to our success and continued growth, much of our achievement is rooted in our internal culture and values. We believe a happy place to work fosters a workforce that enjoys its interactions with each other and our customers. Our offices are open, comfortable and offer the best views to our employees, not the executives. Our executives understand that to be successful, they must serve the people on the front lines."

"If we want (our) environment to remain strong, we have to support it. So for us, we do everything from going out to lunch in downtown nearly every day, to purchasing art and displaying it in the office. On our 10 year anniversary, we declared an Annual Arts Purchase, where we form a committee each year to find and purchase a nice piece of local art for the office."
