Here is a free opportunity for local businesses! The Center of Leadership and Civic Engagement at USF are planning the third annual Local Motive Event, which is designed to highlight local businesses and educate students, faculty and staff at USF about the importance of supporting local businesses.

This year's event takes place 11-2 Wednesday, April 11, at the main USF campus in Tampa, in a high-traffic area. Small businesses are invited to have a free vendor spot and get their business noticed by up to almost 50,000 students.

We attended the events in 2010 and 2011, and of course will be back this year!

To claim your free spot, go to the Local Motive page on USF's website:

Special Offers for LocalShops1 Business & Artist Members!

Interested in all the exposure but can't get to the event? Not a problem. We've got you covered!

1. You're in the Guide. If you joined before press deadline in early February, your business is included in the 2012 Local Guide, which we will be giving away during the event!

2. Got swag? Send it to us and we'll give it out. We're looking for pens, magnets, stickers, shirts, candy, coupons, etc. Make sure to attach your business card or brochure to it.

3. Raffles! If you have a prize (minimum value $25) that we can include in our free raffles, just send it to us! Everyone who contributes a prize will also be listed in all our promotional materials.

To be included, we need to have all your material on hand by Saturday, April 10. We absolutely cannot arrange for pickup -- Please mail everything to:

PO Box 530144
St. Petersburg, FL 33747

There is no cost to be included, but if you'd like to send $5 or $10 to help cover printing and packaging costs, we'd be most appreciative!
