ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Great news for artists! LocalShops1.com this week launched a joint initiative to bring together local artists and local businesses.
The effort, spearheaded by writer and photographer Velva Lee Heraty of St. Petersburg, aims to showcase and promote local artists through art shows, forums between artists and businesses and educational workshops. Artists will also be eligible to apply for a microgrant program organized by Heraty, aka Dream Momma.
"I am delighted to express my love of both art and the city of St. Pete through our mutual initiative of bringing artists to the forefront as honored members of this dedicated organization,” Heraty said.
The initiative gives artists many special features on LocalShops1.com, including a spotlight on the home page and a 10-page website within the website. Membership is open to working artists in the greater Tampa Bay region.
"We were thrilled when Velva came to us with a program specifically tailored for artists,” said Ester Venouziou, LocalShops1.com’s founder. "Her ideas for the Arts Initiative were right in line with our mission to bring together the community, and this was a natural extension, helping connect artists with businesses. We’re looking forward to working with Velva to make that happen.”
