Quickie Marketing Tips

The new year is always a good time to start fresh, and that includes a good look  at your company's branding and marketing.

Ebony Grimsley, founder and president of Above Promotions in Tampa, is making it easier with her 12 Days of Marketing. Every day, for two weeks, she offers a new tip.

Tip No. 1: Image is Everything

From table displays, to packaging and fliers, image matters. Always display your best, Ebony says. Even if it means paying a little more. "NEVER suffer quality to save a few dollars," she writes.

And here at LocalShops1, we couldn't agree more! When our budget is tight, we opt for fewer, high-quality items, rather than mass quantities of lower-quality. And when the budget is really tight, whenever possible, we put off the purchase and start saving for it.


Tip No. 4:  Network and build partnerships.

"Find people who can complement your services or product and build healthy alliances with them," Ebony writes. "Share leads. Think reciprocity. ... For example, if you own a shoe store, partner with the local cobbler."

Again, we say Ebony is right on mark. We're ALL about partnerships. These can be as simple as a cross-promotion (for example, spend $10 here, get a 25 percent coupon at your partner business) or link exchange on your websites. But remember: It's important to be selective on who you partner with; their reputation can reflect on you.
