ST. PETERSBURG, AUG. 24 — LocalShops1.com is pleased to announce that it received honorable mention in the nationwide 2011 Small Business Influencer Awards sponsored by Small Business Trends and Blackberry. The company also was ranked 10th in the popular vote in the corporations category and 33rd overall.
LocalShops1.com, a grassroots company based in Gulfport, was up against 520 businesses nationwide, including major entities such as UPS, The New York Times, Vistaprint, Verizon Wireless, the Better Business Bureau and the Wall Street Journal.
"We're beyond excited about this recognition," says Ester Venouziou,
founder of LocalShops1.com. "This shows the power of working together. We were overwhelmed by the number of shoppers and business owners who helped us get out the vote. And just as important, it shows that maybe small businesses aren't so small afterall when it comes to making an impact in the community."
The selection process involved two stages: voting by the community, weighted at 40 percent, and voting by a panel of judges, weighted at 60 percent. The judges' vote was based on providing products widely used by significant numbers of
small businesses, influencing significant numbers of small
businesses by being a thought leader, or providing information or
services of note to significant numbers of small businesses.
The awards ceremony takes place next month in New York.
