Gulfport has been named a finalist in the Best for Food category in Rand McNally’s Best of the Road competition.
Here at LocalShops1, that comes as no surprise. Afterall, Gulfport is the home of so many LS1-member restaurants, including Stella's Deli, Pia's, Tangelo's, T & Me, Neptune Grill & Fazio's Pizza.
And Gulfport is the home of so many amazing people who helped get the word out about the contest, and helped land the city in the No. 1 spot. Chamber President Lori Rosso even went door-to-door, handing out little notices urging residents and visitors to vote.
There were also many social media campaigns to help spread the word. Some of the most active proponents included Rosso; Daniel Hodge, director of Gulfport Tuesday Market; and Gulfport! magazine, which is published by 007 Computers/GulfportFlorida.us and us here at LocalShops1.com.
Gulfport will be competing for the Best for Food title with Visalia and Costa Mesa, both in
California; Burnsville, Minn; Addison W.Va.; and Lafayette, La.
The top towns in five categories have been narrowed down from more
than 600 submissions and will be judged by Rand McNally teams via blog
posts, video and photos.
