SEMINOLE, Jan. 30, 2012 --
The Greater Seminole Area Chamber of Commerce and LocalShops1 jointly announced the launch of
the "Buy Local Seminole” program.
The initiative is one of the
first of its kind in the nation. It combines the Chamber's local
business leadership, while
using LocalShops1's award-winning programs in promoting locally owned
and operated businesses in Seminole, Florida.
"I feel it is imperative we do everything possible to support
the local business community,
which is why I believe so strongly in the LocalShops1 program,” said Chamber president Roger Edelman.
The program
is kicking off with 20 charter Buy Local Seminole members, who will be featured in a new website, BuyLocalSeminole.com, as well as on the Chamber's and LocalShops1's websites. Once the 20 members are in place, the Chamber and LocalShops1 will work on a citywide celebration to spotlight the members.
"It has been great working with the Seminole Chamber to put together a program for their local businesses," said Ester
Venouziou, founder and president of LocalShops1. "Buy Local Seminole expands our existing 1Card program with the chamber's many tools to help businesses."
The 1Card, launched by LocalShops1 in 2009, encourages shopping local by offering discounts at hundreds of independent businesses throughout the Tampa Bay region. Currently almost 25,000 shoppers have the card. The new Buy Local Seminole program adds 1,000 co-branded LocalShops1-Chamber 1Cards.
