GPS Ready: Gift Giving and Art

The Closer we get to Christmas, the more my email box is fulled with sales and special event shopping. This is all well and good but where can we go do some local shopping and have fun to-boot?

Well, We mentioned the Florida Botanical Garden Christmas market in a previous post in Largo but Hillsborough has some events as well.

On this side of the Bay, our trusty gardeners at Sweetwater Community Farm are having a Seasonal Market on 13 and 20 of this month. I will be at the fair on the 13 and attending the medicine and herbs class on the 20 in the morning. I may be a vendor on the 20th as well but I have to get approval first.  This place is in Town and Country and a real joy to go to on Sundays or any other day of the week.

The Lutz shop and Stroll is this saturday at 9 to 3 -see the news post about that event on the news section of LS1.

Datz Deli is having a “Wine, Cheese, and Chocolate” Gift party where you can sample the wines and cheeses and buy foodie cookbooks or gift packages. Gift wrapping on the spot is available too. While you are over there, walk over to Michael Murphy Art Gallery, Wisteria, or The Royal Tea Shop for Fun and Enjoyment of Tea, Art, and Antique Items. Saturday the 12/19 from 2-6

The favored Victorian Stroll is Back at Henry B. Plant Hotel all christmas long-six dollars or 12 dollars depending on what day you go -see all the splendor of the 1920s and eariler at the famous hotel and take in the decorations and super elegant decorated trees and exhibits.  I am going to try to go this year!

Beads, Holly’s and Barley’s store, is a favorite Jewelry Supply store of mine on Dale Mabry!  They are having a Christmas party! Bring Doggie treats or Doggie Toys For Marley and a handmade gift to give to others -There will be a gift exchange that evening. Dec 17 at 6 pm.

I will be at ART POOL in St pete, Marina Williams on the 19th for their Handmade Holiday Bazaar from 10 am to 3pm and then my friends and I are going Caroling in someone’s neighborhood and having a private get-together!

Sunday the 20th  Sweetwater is offering a organic medicine and herbs course about how to use herbs like mint and allspice and other herbs for immune system strengthening and other natural medicine combos and the holiday handmade fair repeats at the Sunday Market from 12 to 4pm.

Sun 20th evening -

Leafy Green is continuing the Green Christmas theme that evening  by having a RAW Greens Holiday Pot Luck party at Leafy Greens in St pete. Bring a vegan/raw food dish and some money for the meet-up and for dinner. They will have a pot luck dinner and Raw/Vegan holiday platters/food to order and take home for a Greener Holiday Feast! ( you have to order first and pick up later)

Tuesday 8 pm is the famed Rockpella group at Tampa Theater-711 n franklin st-famously remembered by their years of singing on PBS Where in the World is Carmen Santiego will sing old and new hits to charm everyone  in the theater.

DEC 31 -First Night is the ST PETE Celebration of All things Artistic-My Friend Richard took me to see this massive multi-block party of art with musicians on the corner, and art galleries open, and performance art and children/teen ballet and ethnic dance -it is so wonderful to see and do ! Look up First Night in St. Pete online.

Of course, Churches,  D-pac (formerly The TBPAC) and all places of worship/music will be having Christmas or holiday shows, musicals and tampa will be hosting the Chocolate Nutcracker Ballet as Well.
