5 Ways to Satisfy Gourmet Tastes

Posted By Robert Sitten, Monday, October 30, 2017

From spicy to sweet, give your dinner parties a gourmet flair with the creations of these five local businesses.

Image may contain: indoor Brimstone Originals: Formed by the mother-and-daughter team of Eileen O'Hara and Julie Stevens in 2003, Brimstone's pepper jellies can be found in specialty stores throughout Florida, Wisconsin, Illinois and Connecticut. They offer four pepper jelly flavors, including Cranberry Jalapeno and Habanero.

Dip 'N Good Dips: Fill the cabinet with their special mixes for dips, rubs and desserts, like Wasabi-Japanese Horseradish Dip; rubs for beef, poultry and fish; and for desserts, Pumpkin Pie Sweet Treat. Even simple saltines can get a kick from Krazy Krackers Seasoning.

Gateau O Chocolat: Chef Emmanuel Roux's flourless chocolate cakes draw raves. "At my Christmas party, the cakes disappear within the first half hour," one reviewer writes. They're available in 6-inch and 9-inch sizes.

Emmy & J Gourmet: The Lithia-based company makes seasoning mixes and dessert mixes by hand in small batches, as well as a Vino Slush frozen wine drink mix. Choose from Asiago Roasted Garlic dip, Bruschetta Oil dip for dunking your bread, or salted caramel dip to satisfy a sweet tooth.

Intensity Academy Gourmet Sauces: Michelle Northrup's range of acclaimed hot sauces have racked up 53 national awards in just eight years and can be found in several stores, including Savory Spice Shop, Red Hot Tiki and Duckweed Urban Market.

You can meet all the makers and small business owners at this year's Shopapalooza Festival. Nov 18 and 25, 2017, at South Straub Park in downtown St. Petersburg. Admission is free and pets are welcomed! For more information go to
