Peace of Yoga in St. Petersburg opens its doors to cats and kittens (and humans, too), during its cat yoga and adopt-a-thon this Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016.
Guests are invited to take a donation-based class, surrounded by felines, or simply come by to meet their new best friend. Studies show that, just like yoga, being around cats helps trigger calming chemicals in the body, decreasing stress and anxiety levels. Cats are known for being low-maintenance, so a simple petting session is often enough to relax owners and distract them from other worries, says Lori Sapienza, Peace of Yoga's owner.
The event, from 1 to 4 pm takes place at the studio, 21 Dr MLK Jr St South. The first class, at 1:30 pm, will be led by Laura Talafer; the second, at 2:45 pm, by Julie Price. Suggested donation is $5.and all proceeds will go directly to Save Our Strays, a non-profit humane organization whose mission is sheltering and finding homes for abandoned or homeless cats and kittens.
