Local music lovers are buzzing about the first Gulfport Peace, Love & Women Music Festival, coming to this waterfront town’s Historic Casino Ballroom on October 15, from 1-10 pm. A few local restaurants will be on hand to feed hungry attendees so they won’t have to miss a minute of the 9 and a half hour music lineup. The Casino is a beautifully restored 1930s era ballroom overlooking Boca Ciega Bay.
Headlining will be Wendy and the Soul Shakers. 2016 Blues Hall of Fame inductee Wendy Rich traveled the world from 2000-2004 as front person for legendary Janis Joplin’s original band Big Brother & the Holding Company and still occasionally makes appearances with them.
All day general admission passes are on sale now at three Gulfport outlets: The Casino, 5500 Shore Boulevard South, the Gulfport Beach Bazaar, 3115 Beach Boulevard South, and the Gulfport Welcome Center, 3101 Beach Boulevard South # 1. GA passes and VIP passes are also available online at www.gulfportwomensmusic.com. VIPs get reserved table seating right in front of the stage, plus complimentary food and drink tickets, and a bag of concert and Gulfport swag. Kids 12 & under admitted free until 5 pm.
