Congratulations to Shandra L. Riffey, acting executive director of CASA since July 2015, on being officially named executive director of the St Petersburg nonprofit recently. Here is the news release with all the details:
January 28, 2016 - After a six-month, nationwide search, Shandra L. Riffey was named the new Executive Director for CASA (Community Action Stops Abuse) effective January 1, 2016. Riffey has over 15 years of experience running domestic violence centers in Florida and had been serving as CASA’s Acting Executive Director since July 1, 2015.
This news release was held until today out of respect for the memory of Linda Osmundson, who passed away earlier this month. Osmundson was a beloved community leader who served as CASA’s Executive Director from 1989 to July 2015.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are very excited to welcome Shandra as our new Executive Director,” said Nick McDevitt, President of CASA’s Board of Directors. “We are very much looking forward to working together with Shandra and her executive team to build our new foundation and push forward into the future.”
2015 had been a year of great change for CASA, the domestic violence center serving southern Pinellas County, Florida. With the opening of its new 100-bed domestic violence center last July, a new CASA has emerged, with greatly expanded services led by a dedicated team of experienced professionals.
“I am honored to have been chosen as Executive Director of CASA. The support of our agency by the Board of Directors and the CASA Team has been phenomenal,” said Shandra Riffey. “As we usher in a new year and a “New CASA,” 2016 promises to be a year of opportunities for CASA and for those we serve.“
Shandra Riffey has previously served as Executive Director of Lee Conlee House, a domestic violence shelter in Putnam County, Florida from 2001 - 2007 and Executive Director of Micah’s Place, a domestic violence center in Nassau County, Florida from 2007 – 2014. Riffey has served on the Executive Committee of the Florida Coalition against Domestic Violence (FCADV) Board of Directors since 2007 and served as Chairperson from 2009 -2011. She has also served as FCADV’s Legislative Committee Chair and Standards’ Committee Co-chair. Shandra has extensive experience in nonprofit organizational re-structuring, fundraising and building collaborations.
The community is invited to join us for a meet-and-greet at Furnish Me Vintage on February 23, from 5:30 - 7:00 pm, to welcome Shandra Riffey. We welcome everyone to attend and take the opportunity to get to know more about Shandra. For more event information please visit www.casa-stpete.org/events or call (727) 895-4912.
