Local artists, crafters and creative entrepreneurs are invited to be part of the Better Block project, a two-day event that will temporarily transform an underutilized city block into a walkable, bikeable district complete with pop-up businesses, landscaping and parks, street furniture, outdoor café seating, art, entertainment and pedestrian-friendly transportation.
The event takes place Oct. 10-11, 2015, at the 5600 block of Park Boulevard in Pinellas Park. The project acts as a living charrette so the entire community can envision and join in planning the future development of the area. Better Block projects have been now implemented in more than 100 cities worldwide.
* Be part of a community-wide creative venture to vision, build, and plan for the future of Pinellas County’s newest arts venue.
* Join the Playful Public Art movement. Better Block artists will create temporary art installations throughout the emerging creative district.
* Test your market and build your own venue. Temporary public art, pop-up businesses, events and performances are designed to become permanent.
* Experiment with affordable artist studio and gallery space. The city sponsors affordable artist live/work units, studio space, and showrooms. Better Block is the first step in determining future development.
Better Block is sponsored by the city of Pinellas Park. For information call 727-369-0670 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and tell them LocalShops1 sent you!
