Michele Tuegel Contemporary invites everyone to its opening reception of "Word Song: Brush Calligraphy in Black & White" by Ruth Pettis. The event takes place 5-9 pm Saturday, July 11, 2015, along with St. Petersburg's Second Saturday Art Walk. The exhibit will be on display through Aug. 1 at the gallery, 320 Central Ave.
Meet the Artist:
Writing has been Ruth Pettis' passion, art and vocation since 1978, when she graduated from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg. The works in this exhibition are elegant and vigorous, written with ink and brush on Arches cold press paper. Each piece measures 20 x 32" framed, and contains a gold stamped 'dot' somewhere within the composition; a meticulous 'seek and find' detail that viewers will enjoy discovering. Pettis will be available to welcome you and tell you more about her work on Saturday evening.
