Teens Invited to Gulfport Citizens' Academy

The Gulfport Police Department invites teens ages 14 to 19 to the first Teen Citizens' Police Academy, which takes place June 18 to August 27. The classes take place every Thursday from 6 to 9 pm, and participants are offered the opportunity to learn and see what Gulfport police officers do. Classroom instruction and field demonstrations will show the various aspects of law enforcement, including: 
  • Community Policing
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations
  • Firearms Safety
  • Traffic Stops
  • Building Searches
Applications are accepted online and teens must pass a background investigation. Class size is limited to 12 with preference given to Gulfport residents. For information, contact Officer Zack Mills at 727-893-1693 or email  The application deadline is June 12.
