For a second year in a row, St. Petersburg General Hospital received the 2015 Women’s Choice Award as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Emergency Care. This places the local hospital in the top 10 percent for emergency care of the 3,800 emergency rooms that report data to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.
The ratings are based primarily to the amount of time taken in the ER, such as time for diagnosis, medication, and admission to the hospital, and are weighted according to the priorities of women surveyed.
“We are honored to again be recognized with the Women’s Choice Award for Best Emergency Care,” Janice Balzano, CEO of St. Petersburg General, said in a press release. “For over 40 years St. Pete General Hospital has continued to provide high quality, compassionate care with new accreditations and recognitions added every year. We are proud of our Emergency Services staff and physicians and couldn’t be more thrilled to receive this prestigious award.”
St. Petersburg General Hospital is a Joint Commission accredited full-service 215-bed acute care center, providing comprehensive emergency, diagnostic, medical, surgical and women’s services. The hospital is at 6500 38th Avenue North in St. Petersburg. For more information about the hospital, visit their website at StPeteGeneral.com or call 727-384-1414.
