April 17: Gallerie 909 Celebrates First Anniversary

Posted By LocalShops1, Monday, April 13, 2015

Gallerie 909 celebrates its first anniversary with a free party for all. The event takes place 5 to 11 pm Friday, April 17, 2015, and features sculpting, poetry, singing, performance painting and more.

Gallerie 909 is an African-American Art gallery centrally located at 909 22nd St South, in the heart of historic Midtown on the Deuces in St. Petersburg.

"This community has inspired artists for generations and is now part of a new emerging arts community," artist and gallery oner Carla Bristol writes on her website. "Our gallery is quickly becoming known as the preeminent art space representing black art.  Our quaint space presents artists from around the world."

The gallery features a new artist every four to six weeks, offering several mediums including paintings, sculptures, ceramics and furniture. The gallery also hosts poetry most Sundays from 4 to 6 pm and participates in the city's Second Saturday Art Walk from 5 to 9 pm.
