Colorful hats for the ladies and bowties for gentlemen will serve as the backdrop as the St. Anthony’s Hospital Foundation hosts its spring “Derby Gala” Saturday, May 2, 2015, in the University Student Center at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg, 200 Sixth Ave. S.Proceeds benefit St. Anthony’s Hospital diabetes prevention programs. Support of this event helps the Foundation continue to sponsor programs to help control Type 2 diabetes such as telemonitoring of blood sugar levels and post hospitalization follow up.
Traditional Derby attire is encouraged including colorful dresses, hats and bowties. Black tie is optional. Gala tickets start at $250 per guest. Event and table sponsorships also are available.
The event begins at 5 pm with cocktails and a silent auction, and the Kentucky Derby will be shown live at 6:15 pm A five-course meal with wine pairings follows, and the evening continues with dancing until 10 pm. St. Anthony’s Hospital is a 393-bed hospital founded in 1931 as a ministry of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany and was the first faith-based hospital in Pinellas County.
