Get Rescued Raises $7,500 for Local Rescue Groups

Posted By LocalShops1, Wednesday, April 8, 2015

Local rescue groups got a $7,500 boost, thanks to the Gulfport Merchants Association's Get Rescued 2015 events, which included a street festival, evening gala and a bark-b-q. In addition, these events helped to match many humans with their new furry companions. Get Rescued, in its 11th year, also included a pet food and supplies drive for the participating rescue groups.

Rainy weather during the Get Rescued event this year did not deter many animal rescue groups from participating, GMA board member Daniel Hodge writes in the press release.

Gulfport's Get Rescued is one of the largest animal rescue events in the state, and all profits benefit participating non-profit rescue groups. The event takes place on the last Saturday in February each year. Animal rescue organizations, animal-related vendors and the public are invited to save the date for the next one: February 27, 2016. For more information, visit
