August Curtain, 72x40 inches, hanging from 4" brackets, 2014

John Garrettmoves gracefully from constructing complex two and three-dimensional structures, breathing new life into discarded objects. Since the 70's, his intrigue with the tools, systems and materials involved in weaving and other textile constructions has led to a long career of notoriety as a studio artist. Exploring metal, plastics and other alternative materials in visually unpredictable ways, John has combined woven, wrapped, plaited, riveted, painted, rusted, twined, nailed, stitched or tied processes into works which are energetic and meticulously crafted. His work recycles nails, buttons, washers, beads, corks, hardware, plastic flowers, painted aluminum, copper, corn husks, bed springs, children's building blocks, piano keys and even plastic curlers. This exhibit will show works from his Curtain Series, Quilt Series, and new Suspended Sculptures. Visitors may feel like they've entered a cornucopia of ordered chaos, complete with nostalgia and beauty.

"I want my work to inspire thoughts of abundance, of saving, of interior and exterior worlds, and, most of all, of the rewards from looking at things with a fresh eye."

John Garrettgraduated with a master's degree from UCLA in 1976 and lived in Southern California for twenty years before settling in New Mexico in 1990. He grew up surrounded by Native American baskets and pottery, and was always interested in the history of the people reflected in these objects. He has lived and worked in Albuquerque, NM since 1996 and just recently relocated his home and built a new studio in Las Cruces, NM. John has exhibited his work throughout the U.S. for more than 35 years in hundreds of museum, gallery and solo exhibitions, as well as in Europe, Africa and Asia. His work has been widely acquired by museums and art collectors.

DAVE BRUNER
Sarasota, FL
Dave is a professional graphic artist specializing in wood engraving and wood reductionprints. He engraves the images on end-grain maple blocks and then prints the limited editions on rag paper. The engravings are laboriously detailed and printed inblack inkon white; the reduction prints are in color. Much of his work consists of landscapes and cityscapes, while other images show Dave's dry sense of humor. Every piece, however, is intended to produceexceptional prints with integrity. The gallery carries bothmatted and framed works.
