Pink Flamingos, Everywhere!

Posted By LocalShops1, Wednesday, August 27, 2014

LocalShops1 member Lisa Burns, co-owner of the Backyard Getaway, is participating in the Art of Being a Floridian exhibit, a fabulous & flamboyant flock of artist-painted plastic yard flamingos. The exhibit is now on tour through August 2015. Lisa's creation is shown below.

The Art of Being Floridian exhibit serves as a unique reminder to homeowners to "Skip The Fertilizer" in the summer to protect the waterways that make living here so much fun. The display features 24 wild and whimsical flamingos painted by 20 local artists. Each flamingo has its own name, which corresponds to its colorful personality.

You can visit the flock at the following venues:

  • August 2014: Oldsmar Library
  • September 2014: Art Center Manatee, Bradenton
  • October 2014: Largo Cultural Center
  • November 2014: Sunken Gardens, St. Petersburg
