Cut-a-Thon to Help Raise Funds for Girl with Cancer

Posted By LocalShops1, Thursday, July 24, 2014

Local salons and other businesses are coming together for a Cut-a-Thon fundraiser to help a little girl with cancer. The event takes place all day Sunday, July 27, at VLVT Salon, 538 Central Ave. in St. Petersburg.

Dahlia, 3, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor May 2013, and her family has since been all over the country trying to find a cure. The family is now back in St. Petersburg, trying to get settled back in as Dahlia continues her treatment.

Sunday's event is organized by Albie Mulcahy, owner of VLVT Salon, and other participating salons include Hey Stella Vintage Salon & Boutique, Create salon, Clip & Cut and Dollylocks. Customers are asked to give $25 to $50 per cut, with all proceeds going toward Family & Friends For Dahlia.

In addition, there will be raffles with dozens of prizes from local businesses, including Feather Mama, Lizard Thicket Boutique,  Central Coffee Shoppe,  Planet Retro Gallery, Daddy Kool Records, Red Mesa Cantina, Nilda Vale Arbonne rep and more.

To schedule an appointment, contribute a prize for the raffles or find out how you can help by volunteering your time, please call Albie at 727.209.8588.
