"A Point of Departure"

January 11- February 5

Omena, Michigan wood sculptor Larry Fox combines his background in architecture with his current body of work to create deep wall-relief and free-standing sculptures in wood and mixed media. Larry's work is most distinguished by his rich, deep palette of color, achieved through a variety of textures, acrylic and colored pencil. Fox's meticulously-crafted wooden assemblages command introspection to question what appears to be impossible angles and disappearing curves in striated, sculptural relief 'blocks.' He achieves a beauty and sophistication through the use of applied canvas and textural 'cuts' applied to each wooden form, and many of the pieces are mobile in the sense that they can be hung vertically, horizontally or in infinite compositions. His work is represented throughout the U.S. and in Florida through Michele Tuegel Contemporary.
