Grand Central District Association, founded in 2000, is a 501c3 non-profit organization that works to support and promote the Grand Central District’s revitalization in an effort to make it a retail, dining and entertainment destination for St. Petersburg visitors and residents. Its membership and board of directors are made up of district business/property owners, and the organization is supported by a full-time executive director/Main Street manager. GCDA’s mission is to create a sense of identity within a mixed-use community and provide ongoing economic development.
From their application for Best Non-Profit:
"In the coming year, GCDA hopes to capitalize on the ‘buzz’ that has been surrounding the district over the past year. We will use our 15th anniversary in July to celebrate how far the district has come, and continue to look for creative ways to promote the district and its businesses throughout Tampa Bay. GCDA’s distinguishing asset is our 15 years of participation in the Florida Main Street program. FMS is a grass-roots economic development program that has helped to revitalize communities statewide for 30 years, and its tools and resources have been invaluable to the Grand Central District."
Grand Central District Association is at 2227 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. They can be reached at 727-828-7006 or grandcentraldistrict.org.
