Creative Clay's vision is to make the arts accessible for all by providing educational, expressive and vocational opportunities in the arts for people with obstacles to arts access. The non-profit, started in 1995 with a $1,000 grant, serves people with developmental, physical and emotional disabilities, as well as people in healthcare settings, children, veterans, and provide outreach art experiences in our community.
From their application for Best Non-Profit:
"What makes Creative Clay different from other non-profits with similar missions is that we utilize the best practices for community involvement and engagement, while staying true to our vision of making the arts accessible to all. We are continually challenged financially because a large majority of our funding is from the State of Florida and subject to reductions. We’ve weathered these events successfully and with resourcefulness to remain a viable organization for 20 years. We not only serve individuals through daily programming, but we teach them to be advocates for themselves, how to market and talk about their work, how to sell their work. We teach our artists how to work in the art industry – from marketing to curating to creating."
