Roadside Attraction is a "retro-tropical" store featuring mid-century and vintage furniture and home decor, vintage clothing, cocktail goods and tiki treasures. The shop also features new products from small American companies and independent artists, including several local artists, and hosts several events and fundraisers for local nonprofits. The shop opened summer 2012 by Carol Cortright, who says she is obsessed with collecting all kinds of cool old things! They recently moved to their new location in Largo.
From their application for Best New Business:
"Since we opened in the new location about three months ago, I have been starting a conversation with other business owners about creating a regional identity to get more bang for our promotional buck. We’ve gotten the ball rolling by partnering up with two other area boutiques for a “3rd Thursday Shop Hop” evening event. In that brief time, we’ve also done fund raisers for the Pinellas County Historical Society and the Suncoast Animal League. I never intended Roadside Attraction to be “just” a retail outfit. To me, it’s an opportunity to bring the community together in many different ways. To paraphrase one of my favorite children’s books, The Big Orange Splot by Daniel Pinkwater: My shop is me and I am it; it’s where I like to be and it looks like all my dreams.”
The Roadside Attraction is at 13836 Walsingham Road in Largo and can be reached at 727-793-8826 or through their website,
