Meet the 2014 Judges

Get saucy this Spring, at LocalShops1 and Intensity Academy Gourmet Sauces' fourth annual Top Local Chef competition. The battle features chefs from independent restaurants and catering companies from all across Tampa Bay.

The Celebrity Media Judges:
Carlos Hernandez, Carlos Eats 
Carlos, a student at the University of South Florida is founder and blogger at  Carlos Eats, a dining guide to Tampa Bay and beyond. Carlos Eats has been called "one of the coolest emerging sites in the area" by 83 Degrees Media and the best food blog by ReCreating Tampa. Carlos, a contributing writer for Creative Loafing, also has a travel blog, Carlos Abroad, a bar blog, Carlos Drinks, and several other projects in the works.

Janet Keeler, Tampa Bay Times
In addition to serving as lifestyles editor at the times, Janet is an adjunct instructor in the Journalism and Media Studies Department of the University of South Florida St. Petersburg, from which she holds a master's degree. Janet is also the author of "Cookielicious: 150 Fabulous Recipes to Bake and Share" and "Oh Christmas Treats."  She also hosts a popular Twitter chat, #CookClub, every Thursday at 7 pm. Janet joined the Times in 1992.

Isabel Laesig, Family Foodie 
Isabel, a mother of four and founder of Family Foodie, 
is on a mission is to bring back Sunday supper around the family table in every home. It starts off as one day a week and soon becomes a way of life, she says.  Isabel is spreading the word of her mission by working with a group of bloggers. Every week they blog about a #SundaySupper theme and now reach over 1.5 million followers with their recipes every week on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram.

Noah Pransky, 10 News
An Emmy-award winning reporter with 10 News, Noah can trace his broadcasting roots back to the age of 10, when he reported his first story on Boston's WBZ radio. Since then, the Needham, Mass., native earned a broadcast journalism degree at Boston University and has won numerous awards, most recently the  prestigious Polk Award for an investigation that showed how state and local officials had cost Florida drivers millions of dollars in fines by reducing yellow-light times.

Cathy Salustri, The Gabber 
A Gulfport-based writer and columnist, Cathy's travels take her on foot, bike, boat, or car to places all over Florida. She recently completed the Florida Studies Master’s program at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. where she
 wrote what she calls “possibly the least academic master’s thesis ever,” logging almost 5,000 miles retracing driving tours from the WPA Federal Writer’s Project Guide to the Southernmost State in search of Florida’s forgotten destinations.
