Meet Chef Bobby Inthavong

Posted By LocalShops1, Wednesday, March 20, 2013

Rain Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar
5267 Park St. N., St. Petersburg

Chef Bobby's story:

I was born and raised in Laos. In 2001, my parents sent me to America to attend school. However, I quickly learned that school was not for me and focused on my passion for food.

I started in the restaurant industry as a dishwasher. One day, the restaurant was short a cook and I stepped in to fill the position. The owner was impressed that I already had basic kitchen skills. I learned the skills from my mother. She was a restaurant owner back home. From there, I trained and focused on improving my skills by working in various restaurants.

It was my dream to own my restaurant and now I have fulfilled it. I currently own and operate a restaurant that I named after my daughter, Rain.
