LocalShops1, in collaboration with the Gulfport Area Chamber of Commerce, is hosting the local round of the SBA InnovateHER Challenge, in which they look for products or services that make a positive impact on the lives of women and families. The competition takes place Dec. 2, 2015, at the Catherine Hickman in Gulfport, and the winner of this local round may be selected to compete for cash prizes totaling $70,000 in the finals in Washington, DC.

Carla Bristol is founder and owner of Gallerie 909, an African-American art gallery in the heart of historic Midtown on the Deuces in St. Petersburg.
Carla recently received The Men and Women of Distinction award for Arts, Culture and Heritage. She proudly sits on the boards of the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American History Museum Board, Studio @ 620 and The Pinellas County Historical Commission.
Carla, a St Petersburg resident since 1996, left a successful career in sales to open her gallery in 2014, inspired by the area's emerging arts movement as well as The African American Heritage trail documenting its rich history. In less than a year, Carla and her gallery have been featured in several news programs and local publications, including The duPont Registry, Tampa Bay Business Journal, Fox 13, Bay News 9, Tampa Bay Times, The Weekly Challenger and Power Broker.
Gallerie 909 features African and Caribbean Collections with works of art by established and emerging artists in several mediums including paintings, sculptures, ceramics, photographs, jewelry and home furnishings.
