Preparatory Academy

Posted By LocalShops1, Friday, May 30, 2014
Preparatory Academy was started in April 2013 by Christy Bebeau & Carolyn Lang in Lutz.

The  private not-for-profit school aims to "push the envelope of school choice, and
after years of discussing what they believed to be the "ideal school," they decided to start it!

"Our classes are open to all students, and we encourage our students to seek out the best educational opportunities for them - even if they don't happen in OUR SCHOOL!" Christy explains.  "We have classes from PreK - 12th grade, and offer several diploma tracks."

We caught up with them recently.

Tell us a secret!
One of our STEM instructors is actually better at English literature and composition. She recently took the GRE and scored in the 53rd percentile in math, but the 99th percentile in analytical writing!

Favorite part
Love being with young people. Watching the learn is an amazing adventure.

Biggest struggle
Two actually: getting people to understand our unusual school business model and getting to the point where we can seek accreditation.
