Tell us a secret!
Business secret: Many great tips that are given to clients are shared on the
Above Promotions Company blog. In addition, branding and gig
opportunities arrive throughout the day in several industries. Most of
which are shared with clients, while others are sometimes shared with
the public on Facebook and Twitter.
Personal secret: Everything,
even off the clock, is viewed from a marketing and PR perspective, from
how a hotel folds their towels to the glasses a restaurant uses or the
words a manager uses to apologize for their server spilling drinks on a
patron. The marketing brain never shuts off. A blessing and a curse.
Her story: Ebony
T. Grimsley, a Tampa native, grew up surrounded by entertainers and the
world of event organizing and promoting thanks hugely in part to her
father. It was not until after 9/11 that a closer look at the direction
of her life was going in was taken. She began writing for
various publications and ended up being the associate editor of one
before fully launching into becoming the owner and Creative Director of
Above Promotions, a publicity, marketing and promotions company in
Tampa. What started as a wish to help people to keep their
business alive or get it off the ground, flourished into a company that
has helped business owners beyond the U.S. to do just that. The
desire was always present to pursue educating others to improve their
businesses through consulting, speaking and eventually writing the 2012
book titled, "Because You're Small: Effective Marketing Strategies for
Immediate Implementation" which came after she was featured on
MSNBC.com, Retail Customer Experience, Mainstreet and other
publications. Since the book release, she has guest blogged for
NewsOne, spoken on panels, emceed events as well as maintains her over
two year standing as a monthly guest on WEAL radio in North Carolina. The original vision has not changed over the years and the desire to help others continues to increase.
Favorite part of the business: The
best part of servicing our customers is seeing their sales or attendees
increase or their brand receive greater recognition from a well-defined
strategy. These are what put smiles on our clients' faces at the end of
the day that makes us happy and work even harder to hit new milestones
for them. The more we "wow" the customers, the easier it is to love
delivering results to them.
Biggest struggle: The
Internet is a wealth of information. Like those in the medical field,
we see that many people think they can self-diagnose themselves or
determine the best course of "home remedy" to solve their issues on
their own. The Internet can direct you but using experts for execution
is best for a quick recovery. Most people would not attempt to do
surgery on themselves, no reason to attempt to do the same with your
business. Hire an expert to move quickly to a healthy business.
