ST. PETERSBURG, Fla ---   ____(your business name here) __  is happy to announce it is participating in LocalShops1’s Shopapalooza Festival 2014. The event takes place 10 am to 7 pm Saturday, Nov. 22, at South Straub Park in downtown St. Petersburg. Admission is free.

The annual event, known as Tampa Bay’s Local Alternative to Black Friday, features swag, sales and prizes from more than 120 independently owned businesses and artists in the Tampa Bay region. The event also features live entertainment, demonstrations, and more.  Also represented at Shopapalooza are some of the area’s top arts institutions and nonprofit organizations, including the Dali Museum, Mahaffey Theater, American Stage Theater, CASA and Creative Clay, as well as the region’s top business associations and chambers.

The Children’s Zone, sponsored by Great Explorations Children’s Museum, will feature plenty of activities and crafts (check out Great Exploration’s spin art demonstrations!), plus local businesses offering clothing, toys, gifts and services for parents, babies and children.

This year’s entertainment includes specially choreographed “Buy Local” performances by Dance Central,  performances by Trop Rock band (from 4-7 pm), a hot pepper competition, strolling entertainment by Ciara Carinici’s theatrical troupe and more.  

Over at the Beer Garden consumers will find local craft beers including 3 Daughters, Tampa Bay Brewing and Pair o Dice. Proceeds benefit the Rotary Club of St. Petersburg Sunset.

“Shopapalooza is a way to celebrate and spotlight the great independent businesses that make Tampa Bay such an amazing place,” says Ester Venouziou, LocalShops1 founder. “It gives consumers the opportunity to kick off the holiday shopping season by shopping locally!”

Shopapalooza, now in its fifth year, is a production of LocalShops1. This year’s nonprofit partner is Rotary Club of St. Petersburg Sunset and event sponsors are Moorman Photographics, Moorman Photographics, American Stage Theatre Co., St. Petersburg Tribune, Great Explorations Children’s Museum, Bright House Networks Business Solutions, BeachLife Entertainment Guide and the City of St. Petersburg.
